Jesus Spiritual Gifts

 Spiritual gifts are innate skills or abilities that were given to us by Heavenly Father before we came to earth.  They are uniquely ours.  It is our responsibility to develop and strengthen those gifts here on earth.  We are to use those gifts to serve others and God. 

Because Jesus Christ was literal offspring of God, http://whymormonism.org/83/purpose_life_mormonism that He possesses many of the same qualities and characteristics of our Heavenly Father.  Heavenly Father entrusted Jesus Christ with specific skills to help Him carry out God’s will on earth throughout His ministry. 

According to the seventh article of faith, Mormons believe in “the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.”  During Christ life, he was able to receive all of these gifts because of His firm belief and commitment to the Lord.  He received these gifts from Heavenly Father through the Holy Ghost. 

Jesus Christ was given the gift of tongues.  He was an effective communicator.  He spoke on behalf of His father to the multitudes.  He communicated His father’s laws and commandments unto the people.  Jesus Christ received much revelation concerning where he should go or who he should serve during His ministry.  Mormons believe that those who follow the commandments and sincerely ask for it, can still receive prophesy and revelation today.  http://www.mormonbeliefs.org/ tells us that there is a modern day prophet, currently Gordon B. Jesus Christ was given the gift of healing.  He used this gift to heal and bless all those who were sick or ailing.  During His ministry, those who did not believe that he was the son of God were immediately rebuked when they saw Him perform miracles.  Through the power of healing, He could cleanse the leaper, cause the deaf to hear, and raise the dead.  Today, Mormons believe in the gift of healing through priesthood power.  Mormon men who have proven themselves worthy of this power can bless and heal the sick.  These priesthood blessings are administered in a similar way to how Jesus gave blessings in His day.

Jesus Christ was given many spiritual gifts which helped Him guide and lead the multitudes on earth.  Every person living on the earth today has god-given spiritual gifts.  We are to strengthen and further those talents.  We are to use them in a way that would be pleasing to the Lord.  Jesus Christ gave us an example of how our spiritual gifts should be used to serve others and the Lord.
